Artist Profile

Minke van
de Zande

Born 1974, Nijmegen, Netherlands

The artist capabilities and creative skills of Minke van de Zande are truly unique in it’s kind. Here initial breakthrough as an artist was forced by her series “Surimono in Silk” – a textile reconstruction of original Japanese prints of Yashima Gatukei in silk and yarn. The way she translated Japanese prints from appr. 1830 from the depot of the Volkenkundig Museum Leiden, Netherlands in silk, is considered textile art at the highest level.

Fast forward to 2020, Minke combines here techniques of traditional goldwork embroidery, weaving, knitting, needle lacing, macramé and Komihimo with modern Printoptical Art. Her initial artwork ‘Enlighten Me’, developed in close partnership with Luximprint, was the firstborn of her Printoptical Artworks evolving from the ‘Luximprint Creative Factories’.
